두만강 인근의 함경북도 회령에서 제작, 사용된 물항아리이다.

키가 작고 옆으로 퍼진 풍만한 형태가 주를 이루는데, 이 항아리는 유약이 표면에 흘러내려 '눈물항아리'라고도 불린다.

화려한 잿빛 유약은 회령지역의 항아리에서만 나타나고, 길러 온 물을 저장하는 용도로 사용되었다.

Hoeryeong Jar

The Hoeryeong Jar is a water storage vessel produced and used in Hoeryeong, Hamgyeongbuk-do, near the Tumen River.

It is typically short in height with a wide, rounded form. The glaze flows down the surface, which is why it is also called a “tear jar.”
