연초 항아리
“연초”라고 글씨를 써넣은 옹기는 근대에 제작된 것으로, 연초(담뱃잎) 재배와 담배 생산이 활발하던 충청도 신탄진 지역에서 유해 성분이 있는 연초 잎을 보관하기 위해 사용되었다.
또한 다른 옹기들과 구분하기 위해 글씨를 새겨 주문 제작한 것으로 보인다.

This jar, marked with the word “Yeoncho,” was produced in modern times.
It was used in the Sintanjin area of Chungcheong-do, where tobacco cultivation and production were active, to store tobacco leaves containing harmful substances.
The inscription was likely added to distinguish it from other jars and indicate that it was custom-made.
