거북병
술이나 물을 담아 이동할 수 있는 병으로, 둥글고 넓적한 몸통 한쪽에 주구(물구멍)를 달아 거북이처럼 보인다.
크기가 작은 것은 자라병이라고 부르고, 큰 것은 거북병이라고 부른다.
거북병 중 몸통 주변에 구멍이 난 고리가 붙어 있는 것도 있는데, 이는 끈을 연결해 장거리를 이동할 때 새끼나 광목 등을 이용해 메도록 한 용도이다.
병의 주구를 위로 향하게 한 뒤 어깨에 짊어지고 운반할 수 있었다.
Turtle-Shaped Jar
This jar, used for transporting alcohol or water, has a round and flat body with a spout (jug hole) on one side, giving it the appearance of a turtle.
Smaller jars are called Jara-byeong(young Turtle Jar), while larger ones are called Turtle Jars.
Some turtle jars feature a ring with holes around the body, designed to attach ropes so that the jar could be carried over long distances using straps or cloth.
The jar could be carried on the shoulder with the spout facing upward.
