한겨울에는 방 안에서 난방용으로도 활용되었으며, 옷을 만들 때 마무리용 인두를 꽂아 사용하는 등 다양한 생활 용도로 쓰였다.

A hwa-ro was used to hold charcoal for warming food or keeping embers for the hearth fire.
In the middle of winter, it also served as a heating device indoors and had various practical uses, such as holding a branding iron used for finishing clothes.
