벌통

벌통은 주로 나무로 만들지만, 옹기로 제작된 벌통은 희귀한 유물이다.

둥근 받침대 위에 긴 원통을 올리고, 짚으로 만든 고깔을 씌운 형태이다.

꿀벌은 둥근 받침대 양쪽의 뚫린 구멍을 통해 들어가 원통 내벽에 꿀을 저장한다.

원통은 분리할 수 있어, 꿀이 차면 새로운 빈 원통으로 교체하여 꿀을 수확할 수 있다.

Beoltong (Beehive Jar)

A beoltong is a beehive, typically made of wood, but ones made of earthenware are rare artifacts.

It consists of a long cylinder placed on a round base, covered with a cone-shaped straw lid.

Honeybees enter through holes on both sides of the round base and store honey along the inner walls of the cylinder.

The cylinder is removable, allowing it to be replaced with an empty one when full, so that honey can be harvested.
