주병
술을 담는 용도로 사용된 옹기로, 몸체가 둥글고 넓어 술을 담았을 때 안정감이 있으며, 목이 가늘고 입구가 밖으로 벌어져 술을 따르기 쉽게 만들어졌다.
화려한 서체가 쓰인 주병은 1916년 이후 제작된 것으로,
조선의 주류 시장을 장악하고 일본식 술을 권장하기 위해 조선총독부가 시행한 주세법에 따라 만들어졌다.
병 표면에는 술이 제조된 지역과 회사 이름이 기재되어 있다.
Jubyeong (Liquor Jar)
A jubyeong is an earthenware jar used for storing liquor.
Its round and wide body provides stability when filled, while the narrow neck and flared opening make it easy to pour.
Jubyeong jars with ornate inscriptions were produced after 1916,
following the Liquor Tax Law implemented by the Japanese Government-General of Korea to dominate the Korean liquor market and promote Japanese-style alcohol.
The surface of the jar indicates the region and company where the liquor was produced.
