지석
지석은 봉분 앞에 세워두는 비석과 달리, 무덤 안에 묻어 봉분이나 묘비가 유실되더라도 유족들이 조상을 찾아낼 수 있도록 제작된 도판(陶板)이나 판석을 말한다. 지석에는 고인의 성명, 관향(출신지), 가족관계, 이력, 덕망, 생졸 장연월일, 묘지 소재 및 방향 등의 내용이 기록되어, 고인의 생애를 기리며, 도자기 역사의 연대를 밝히는 중요한 자료로도 사용된다.
Ji-seok (Tomb Tablet Pottery)
Ji-seok refers to a ceramic or stone tablet placed inside a grave, unlike a stele set in front of a burial mound. Even if the mound or gravestone is lost, it allows descendants to locate the ancestor. Ji-seok records the deceased’s name, clan origin, family relationships, biography, virtues, birth and death dates, and tomb location and orientation, commemorating their life and providing valuable historical data for dating pottery.
